DP World Trip

Coming to perform the task required this week, I found my mind crowded with many learning experiences worth talking about. I decided to talk about the one that is still very fresh in my mind, simply because it happened last Tuesday.

My Supply Chain Management class and I visited DP World to get a practical feel of how logistics are managed in real life. We were so lucky to find in the two presentations delivered direct links to the concepts covered in the classroom. I could see on the students faces the appreciation for the value of what they're learning, and the satisfaction to get more clarification on it's nature.

I found myself learning about many practical aspects of competition in this important field. DP World professional staff talked about various attraction strategies they use to keep growing the ports operations and make it the port of choice in the whole region. What thrilled me is that out of the two very professional employees that conducted the presentation there was one of my ex-students whom graduated three years ago. I was so happy to see him back to UAE after working at various DP World operations around the glob with lots of knowledge and professionalism. I guess what makes this trip a very memorable learning experience to me is that I was learning from my student "Ahmad Al Haddad"! A very satisfying emotion beyond my articulation ability!

Yes, you guessed right, my name is Bara'a :)


I'm a working mother of three lovely children: Maryam, Fatima, and Mohammad. I also hold Masters degree in Computing and Information Systems from Hull university, UK. PMP, PD Facilitator, and MCAD are some of my other titles. My 36th birthday resolution, last June, is to pursue my education in Management studies.


I'm currently a Faculty member at Dubai Men's College, working mainly with bachelor students in business and IT. My main focus is mentoring graduation projects and teaching Project Management. Prior to DMC, I worked as Telesales Readiness Specialist and Call center operations assistant at Microsoft ME. At Sima Int. for advanced technologies, I worked as Arabization team leader and web developer. I also worked as lecturer at Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai University College, and as a Teaching Assistant at Ajman University of Science and Technology.


Hoping to update myself on the best practices in teaching and learning through this interesting program. Will do my best to add value to the group.
